Collages

For several years, between 2009-2011, I worked on a series of collages using my own photographs combined with other scrap materials around my studio, mostly pages from old books and magazines.  Originally, my idea was to make new "photobooks" by reconstructing old books with my pictures in them.   I would tear the books apart, and then use the pieces to make new pieces of my own.  However, I became interested in a large sense of materiality and images, and how these things can work together to change the meaning of a photograph. The pictures I used in making these collages were either nude studies I made working with 2-3 different models found around Ithaca, or pictures I made while photographing my young family.
