SCANNING THE ARCHIVES
POSTCARDS FROM HOME
Between 2016-2023, I worked on a sort of photographic memoir, returning annually to my home in Denver to make photographs. My time in the city was defined by a photographic immersion - out exploring the streets and landscapes with my own cameras, researching old pictures of the region in archives and holdings as city's museums and libraries, and combing through old family archives. This project was translated into several different forms - including a larger meditation I composed called Westward, Home and a series of zines that explored smaller pieces of this process. These all measure 7x11 inches and are all printed on Strathmore drawing paper. Three of these - Theater for the New City, 35mm Outtakes, and Scanning the Archives were all made while working as an artist in residence at MacDowell in 2017.
