Javan
I first traveled in Indonesia in 1992-93, when as an undergraduate I went to Bali to study art, music, and religion. Since then, I've sustained my interest in Indonesian music, art, and culture, and travel back as often as I can. Between 2011 and 2018, I worked with three different grants to develop my work in Java. The photographs here are all from different series or approaches I've developed while picturing the Javanese landscape. Javan is a collection of the pictures.
