Theater for the New City

Theater for the New City ​is the first in a set of 5 zines made between January-September 2017, and were apart of my research in developing my larger series about Denver, ultimately leading to my recent book project Westward, Home.  Each of the zines is printed on Strathmore Drawing Paper, staple bound, and contains at least one, unique print.  These zines are all in an edition of 10 copies. Theater for the New City is composed entirely of photographs I made in the spring of 1992, some of my first photographs.  The pictures were all made along the train tracks in the industrial region of Colorado Springs, and are largely pictures of graffiti and homeless shanties.  The zine includes a fragment of text by Ivan Chtcheglov, "Formulary for a New Urbanism," an early writing of the Situationists International. Please email me with any inquiries about the Denver zines.
